THE MANTEAU GALLERY

Papa Louis and the young stable

The forties

Louis Manteau from the famous Manteau Gallery  at Porte Louise, which exhibited the greatest names of the time such as Dufy, Mane-Katz, Derain, Permeke and Van Wel, discovered Poucette drawings and fell in love with this artist. She exhibited on many occasions in this gallery between 1944 and 1950, first alongside Serge Creuz and Raymond Cossé at the exhibition: "Les Peintres de Vingt Ans", where she received excellent reviews from the Press for the followed by individual exhibitions.

A lot of buyers show their interest and obtain her drawings, gouaches and watercolors. The first sale belongs to the painter Jean Van Wel (1906 - 1990). ¨Poucette, with her spontaneity which is so specific to her, will write these few lines to him. In 1947, Fine Arts and Letters will acquire the painting "Autumn". Another group exhibition in which Poucette participates at Manteau Gallery is called"LA PORTE DE NAMUR".
